Via Latina ("we," "our," or "us") is operated by Skybound Systems Inc. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our users, especially children. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
Via Latina stores your learning progress, practice history, streak data, achievement badges, and display preferences locally on your device using your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device unless you create an account.
If you create an account, we collect your email address and a display name. We use Supabase for authentication, which stores your email securely. We do not store passwords directly — all authentication is handled through Supabase's secure infrastructure.
If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment is processed by Stripe. We never see, store, or have access to your full credit card number. Stripe handles all payment data in accordance with PCI DSS standards.
We may collect anonymous usage data such as pages visited, features used, and general device information (browser type, screen size) to improve the app. This data is not linked to any individual user.
We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise share your personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes. Period.
We only share data with the service providers necessary to operate Via Latina:
Via Latina is designed for use by homeschool families, including children under 13. We take our obligations under the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) seriously.
Parental consent: Children under 13 should use Via Latina under the supervision of a parent or guardian. Account creation for children under 13 requires a parent or guardian's email address.
Minimal data collection: We collect only the minimum data necessary to provide the learning experience. For users without accounts, all data stays on the device.
No behavioral advertising: We do not serve ads to any users. We do not use cookies or tracking for advertising purposes.
AI Tutor safeguards: The AI Tutor is configured to only discuss educational topics related to Latin grammar, vocabulary, and the CC curriculum. It does not collect or store personal information from conversations.
Parental rights: Parents can review, modify, or delete their child's data at any time by contacting us.
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data. Account data is stored in Supabase with encryption at rest and in transit. All connections to Via Latina use HTTPS. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Clear your browser's localStorage for vialatina.app. In most browsers: Settings > Privacy > Clear browsing data > select "Cookies and site data." This removes all locally stored progress, streaks, and preferences.
Email us at skyboundsystemsinc@gmail.com with the subject "Data Deletion Request." Include the email address associated with your account. We will delete all your data within 30 days and confirm by email when complete.
Via Latina uses only essential cookies required for authentication (session cookies managed by Supabase). We do not use third-party tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics cookies that track individual users. We do not participate in any ad networks.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes by posting a notice on the app and updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Via Latina after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
